Washware

by BuilderAtWork.

Washware is a hyper realistic clothes washing simulator. Incredible. I cannot fully convey how excited I was to discover that my virtual wash cycle was going to take 12 actual real world minutes.

There’s no particular reason this game had to be made in Roblox, of course – you could just as easily make a realistic clothes washing simulator in Unity, or Godot, or anything else. But this game perfectly demonstrates the thing that makes Roblox so interesting to me: the idea that every game can be multiplayer. Even when that game is a clothes washing simulator. What would games look like in a world where that was the default design paradigm?

  1. This year, a major update has been released, introducing a brand new, fully functional apartment for everyone—featuring adjustable lighting and entirely custom-made furniture. There’s also a fully working radio, offering everything from classical music to hardstyle.

A new building has been added, along with a brand-new washing machine packed with tons of features. It’s arguably the most realistic household appliance ever seen in a game, complete with vastly improved textures and user-friendly options like automatic avatar resizing when looking into the drum.

The interaction system has been completely redesigned, and there’s so much more: a TV, a full kitchen, new detergents like fabric softener and working bleach, and an incredibly advanced suspension system. It’s deeply satisfying to see the drum wobble with every piece of clothing that drops in.

Most importantly, the update is almost entirely bug-free—likely reducing bugs by at least 99% compared to the pre-alpha version. Despite being much more realistic, the game is now significantly more optimized.

There’s also a new emote system, and so much more to discover!

    1. (Just to clarify: I wrote this message simply because I felt like it and wanted to share the excitement. I don’t legally own the game—I’m just friends with the owner.)
